I'm super excited to be back at Glen Echo for Swing Night with Gotta Swing! I'll be singing with the Seth Kibel's Bay Jazz Project but we'll be battling it out against Hailey's Hot Gumbo Swingtet so expect to hear an unusual amount of clarinet ;)

• Beginner swing lesson with Tom and Debra 8-9pm • Bands play 9-11:30pm • Admission $30/door • SAVE $10! Purchase in advance online and pay $20; ticket sales ends at 12noon the day of the dance

What a fabulous night! Two of DC’s most famous purveyors of the licorice stick duke it out onstage. We know Halley Shoenberg from her incredible reed work with the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, Blue Sky Five, and other groups. Seth Kibel appears regularly with Bay Jazz Project, Daryl Davis Band, Natty Beaux and more. What happens when two titans of the clarinet, onstage with some pretty incredible musicians, battle to the death? We can’t wait to find out! (By the way, this is a rematch–we did this back in 2014 and had a TON of fun.)

I'm super excited to be playing Artomatic! If you've never been, Artomatic is a huge unjuried art show which features all sort of art - visual, music, film, and more! I'll be joining the This Could Go Boom showcase on the 8th floor, which starts at 5:30 and runs until close (which I think is at midnight). My set starts at 7:30 and I'll be followed by my friend Cynthia Marie so the timing couldn't be better!

Our stage is sponsored by This Could Go Boom!, which is a really cool nonprofit organization that supports gender diversity in music and strives for gender equity in music through record label services, professional development, community outreach, education, and performance opportunities for musicians and music industry workers whose genders have long been underrepresented, marginalized and excluded. You can find out more about them at: https://www.thiscouldgoboom.com

Since it was also just my birthday, I'm going to go ahead and call this a birthday show which really just means I hope you willcome on out and hang out with me and the other musicians and artists for a fabulous evening of the arts! Did I mention it's free?! Hope to see you there!
